USA CUP RESULTS 2007

The 2007 USA CUP at DISNEYWORLD in Orlando Florida, was a great success . Over 600 players competed in 7 Divisions for Championships.  NEW  this year the first WOMEN'S Division competed with plenty of action.The Wide World of Sports at Disney World is the finest place any player could ever play. Two regulation rinks, INDOORS played on MS3 SPORTSURFACE.

Special Theme park, lodging packages and transportation were guaranteed for all teams that were entered and stayed at DISNEY'S Resorts and Hotels. All games were played by the IDTA RuleBook and ASHI Guidelines. Teams came from all over to compete, Quebec City, Montreal, San Francisco, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Boston, New Jersey, Leominster Ma the Home of Street Hockey.

The 2 Rinks at the touranment were named in honor of Thomas Downey & Raymond W LeClerc for their lifetime contributions adn dedication to the game of Street Hockey and Dekhockey.

  Raymond W LeClerc is considered the founderand Father of the Sport of Street Hockey and Dekhockey. His vision in the early 70's of organized Street Hockey played with a set of rules, in a rink with Leagues and National Tournaments enabled tens of thousands of players to play Organized Street Hockey.

Mr LeClerc founded MYLEC, Street Hockey's largest equipment provider. His creation of the of the NO BOUNCE ORANGE BALL made it possible to play the game everywhere, from driveways, to parking lots to Official Rinks all over the world, and here at DISNEYWORLD

Thomas Downey was Vice President of MYLEC for over 25 years and is considered Street Hockey's Official Ambassador. Tom travelled all over North American spreading the good word of the sport and assisting with the development of rinks. Tom also served as Commissioner of ASHI's, US NATIONALS founded in 1975 and the INTERNATIONALS 1972 by Mr Leclerc. Tom is still involved today as a partner in T & C Sports provider of the MS3 SPORTSURFACE played on here at the WIde World of Sports.

PENGUIN DIVISION

Gold Medal  Team Chicago 1-0 OT vs Egg Harbor NJ Phantoms An unassisted goal by Nick Busch , 26 seconds into Sudden Death Overtime clinched the Gold Medal as both goalies Wayne Palaszynski and Egg Harbors Baumgartel made many  great saves in the most exciting Final of the USA CUP

Team Chicago Penguin Gold Champs

Bronze Medal Gr Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 vs North East Storm another exciting Penguin game as the underdog Penguins nipped the NE Storm.

BEAVER DIVISION

Championship Game  NJ Hurricanes 2-1 vs Team Chicago. The Hurricanes coached by Stig Blomkvest defeated a powerful Team Chicago Goals by Mike Laricks and Shawn Wilson the winner with 1:01 left in the game, asssited by Brandon Blomkevest and Ryan Lewis, captured  the Championship. Chicago got their goal by Bobby Nolan.  Both goalies Jake Spallina for Chicago and Cody Walker were outstanding between the pipes.

CADET DIVISION

Championship Game Egg Harbor NJ Phantoms 2-1 vs Leominster Ma KINGS. EHT coached by Ken Bergeron nipped their rival 2-1 on goals by Doug McKenna and Stever Romano., Andy Mucerino adding an assist. Kings got thier lone goal from Nick Carter, Anthiony Laperriere assisting. Goalie's Dave Lillie and EHT Brando Farvo were great in goal in the close match.

WOMENS

Gold Medal  Quebec City ICE FROGS 3-0 vs ONTARIO MACS. The heavily favored MACS from the Toronto area fell to the ICE FROGS on Annie Lessard's shutout performance and teammates Lorraine Bourcier's goal and Jeanvine Beaudry's two goals. The game was close right down to the end, with a Beaudry's empty netter, Nicki Dumont assisting and clinching the FIRST WOMEN'S GOLD MEDAL

Bronze Medal USA REDLINE 2-1  vs Les Girls from Montreal. Callie Housser led her team to victory scoring early in the 1st period and assisting on the winner in the 3rd period by cousin Katie Housser. Les Girls kept the game close adding a goal with 4:07 left by Danielle Dumont, assists going to Isabelle Clavet & Nicloe Maclure.

SENIOR C

Championship Game  Club Video Eclair 5-0 vs Chill Billies, both teams from Quebec and rivals, saw Claude Pouliot shutout the Chill Billies. Coached by Brian Tuppert the CVE a good pasing team, got an early lead by Sylvain Boivin with assist to Dennis Bertrand and Mike Ferland. Then Danny Beaulieu went to town scoring 3 goals two in the second period to cinch the game. Luc Gilbert rounded out the scoring with assists on the goals  to Ferland, Beaulieu, Boivin & Pat Chiasson.

SENIOR D

Championship Game  Leominster Assassins 4-1 vs New Hampshire Alliance, Tony Aveni's Assassins jumped out to a lead on Matt Levesque's first of 3 goals, assisted by teammate Bobby Housser. The Alliance tied the game up at 1-1 on a shot by Ron Leger with John Riley assisting. The game stayed tied until 4:11 of the 3rd period when Tim Thibeault of the Assassins took a feed from Housser to give his team the go ahead goal. Levesque added two more goals assisted twice by Tim Meza, and once each Antonio Fortunato and Housser. The IDTA Staff and Officials say thanks to all the well behaved players, coaches and team managers, plus the dedicated parents and fans who supported the 07 USA CUP.

OLDTIMERS ( 35 yrs and Older)

Championship Game  Red Line Merge 8-0 vs EHT Phantom Oldtimers. Red Line won a close battle for the Championship in 2006 3-2 in Overtime but 07 was a blow out as Red Line cruised past EHT.  Rich Emmons and Bruce Fortunato added two goal each, singles to Tom Gallagher, Tony Aveni, Doug Sedille and Rich Van Camden. Chris Housser added 4 assists and Tom Gallagher a pair. Dennis Beaupre recorded the shutout. EHT had solid performances from Ken Bergeron and Jay Swisher.
