2009 US NATIONALS CHAMPIONS Rams 4 vs Jets 1 The Leominster Ma Rams coached by John Stamas defeated the Jets in a very close final game. The Jets defeated the Twin City Coyotes in the Qtr finals 2-1 and then edged the Mass Cyclones 2-0 in the Semi's, with an impressive goaltending performance by Bobby Vorse. The Rams Qtr final was an exciting 3-2 OT win over the the Elite, in the Semi's the Rams were down 3 to 1 to former Champs, Pete Walter's Gr Boston Stars & went on to win 7-3. The final game was scoreless until midway through the 2nd period when Rams Brian Reynolds scored from Chris MacKenzie, two minutes later Jets Ryan DiBartolomeo tied the game on a breakaway pass from Andrew Hildreth. Rams took the lead on a faceoff deep in the Jets zone, only 14 seconds left in the period. Bobby Housser won the draw to Cody Warila, his rebound was put in by Conan Langlois. The Rams pulled away early in the 3rd on JR Russo's blast from the point. Housser & Steve Kendall assisted. Cody Warila rounded out the scoring on a pass from teammate Bobby Housser to clinch the title. Rams Bobby Housser was voted Most Valuable Player, Jets Andrew Hildreth Most Valuable Defenceman, , Rams famed veteran goalie Rick Breau posted 1 shutout & turned away 21 shots in the final was awarded Most Valuable Goalie. Rams Bobby Housser was the Tounament Leading Scorer, with 15 Pts 4 goals & 11 assists, Warila was right behind with 7 goals & 6 assists. The Rams have won 36 staight games & in that span of tourney's, 8 Overtime victories and 14 shutouts by Breau 2009 Winter Classic Champions USA BLUE The 1st Winter Classic Street Hockey tournament was held in Athol Ma at the INDOOR 202 Sports Entertainment Center and proved to be great success. 8 womens teams competed Round Robin style event , hosted by the IDTA  Team USA Blue coached by Mary OHalloran defeated USA Red 5-0 in the final. Both teams were 5 and 0 coming into the Final. Team Blue won all the awards, Goalie Liz Connor was selected MVG, Gina Demaro MVD & Trista Rajaratran MVP, Trista & teammate Kristen Patnaude were tied for Leading Scorer, Team Red, Heather Clark had 14 pts. Both teams dominated the local competition offensively and showed their high level of play. Players from both teams are off to Czech Republic this June to the World Championships of Ball & Street Hockey in Pilsen, hosted by the ISBHF www.ISBHF.com 2008 CAN AM Rams Toronto LEAFS 5-4 OT The Rams of Leominster Ma edged the Toronto Leafs 5-4 in Sudden Death OT. The game saw one of the best Street Hockey match ups in years. The Leafs a classy slick passing, hard shooting , fast team, dominated every game they played. The Leafs racked up impressive playoff wins with back to back qtr & semi's wins beating Twin City Coyotes & the Gr Boston Stars both 7 to 2. The Rams shutout the Seahawks 3-0, then came from behind in the semi's versus the Jets to win 4-3 in OT. With the Rams defending Can Am championship on the line, Bobby Housser got the his team going in the first, stealing the ball & scoring shorthanded. Leafs outshot the Rams 8-4, & just 36 seconds into the second Tony Monteiro took feed from Chris Morrison to tie the game. Midway through the period Morrison put on a stick handling show, beat two Rams and deked goalie Rick Breau to take a 2-1 lead. The Leafs domination continued with Tony Talevski scoring a power play blast, Franco Andreacchi & Ivano Conte assisting. Leafs outshot the Rams 12-5. The Rams then changed gears, and 53 seconds into the third closed the gap as Josh McKenna scored from Brian Reynolds. Leafs went up 4-2 with only 3:17 left in the game notching a power play goal, Morrison making a pass to Andreacchi, Tabas also assisted. The game looked over and the Rams 29 game win streak over until Housser struck at 1:39, Steve Kendall assisting. Housser stunned the Leafs 19 seconds later with an unassisted goal to tie the game at 4 to 4 sending the game into sudden death overtime. The Rams were outshot 6-5 in the third period, and the stage set for more action, the Rams pressured with 8 shots in OT, and the last one found its mark. A faceoff deep in the Leafs zone won by Rams Dante Suarez over to Bobby Housser who got free from his check then deked Vince Sozio for the game winner his 4th goal of the game. . Rams Bobby Housser was voted Most Valuable Player, Leafs Marc Parravano Most Valuable Defenceman, , Rams Rick Breau posted 4 shutouts & made 23 saves in the final, many brilliant, Most Valuable Goalie. Leafs JIm Tabas & Chris Morrison were Tounament Leading Scorers, with 15 points each, Tabas 7 Goals & 8 Assists, Morrison 5 Goals & 10 helpers Housser was right behind with 6 goals & 6 assists. 
Leominster Rams defeated the Toronto Leafs 5 to 4 in Overtime, the Rams down 4 to 2 with 1:39 left in the game got a pair of goals,19 seconds apart from Tournament MVP Bobby Housser to force OT. Housser then scored the winner with his 4th goal of the game . Rick Breau of the Rams was MVG 4 Shutouts & then 25 saves in the Final. Leafs Marc Parravano MVD teammates Chris Morrison & Jim Tabas were tournament Leading Scorers with 15 points each. Disney's 08 Street Hockey Championships at the Wide World of Sports, had visits from two of the sports Legends, this past Columbus Day . This dynamic duo are responsible for creating and managing the game of Street Hockey . Mr Leclerc's vision of organized Street Hockey lives on today and was on full view at the Disney's great site. Both Indoor rinks were named in their honor for the event, which featured 34 teams & over 450 players On the left Tom Downey who has been Street Hockey's great ambassador & Ray LeClerc's right hand man for over 30 years. On the right Ray Leclerc who founded organized Street Hockey & through his company MYLEC, created the Orange Ball and many other products.One of the highlights was when Mr Leclerc dropped a ceremonial game ball, between the South Jersey Hurricanes & Egg Harbor Phantoms.
2008 USA Championships Results Summary This was the 3rd year for the Disney's Street Hockey Cup at the beautiful Wide World of Sports in Orlando Fl. 34 teams and over 600 players participated at two of the finest indoor rinks in the world, (175' x 75' ) played on MS3 Solid SportsSurface. Teams came from many many cities in Canada & the USA to enjoy fast paced, clean Street Hockey . The Stars coached by Rick Defazio beat the Wave 6-4. The Wave coached by Paul Ciccone fell behind 5-0 after a period and a half and struggle to get back into the match, until the 3rd period when they scored 3 unanswered goals. Tyler Warila of the Stars led the way with 3 goals and 2 assists, other goals coming from PJ Dupre, Jon Palotta, Nick Marin. Wave got goals from Ryan Shaw (2) ,Brandon Shaw and Marco Franza. The Beaver B Niagara Falls 1st Choice Transmission beat the Leominster Storm 3-0. The Storm coached by Tony Johnson had met NF in round robin and had a rare 0-0 tie. Tony Vertone coach of 1st Choice also found it difficult to get balls past Storm goalie Andrew Carter until mid way through the 2nd period. McKenzie King did a great job with another shutout to help his team to the championship. 1st Choice goal scorers were Matt Vanderzalm a pair and Callum MacGregor. Penguin Division Niagara Falls Flyers beat the Leominster Storm 5-0 in the final. Both teams had met in round robin and had an exciting 6-5 game, the Flyers edging the Storm. Jim Devine coached the Flyers and had 2 goals from Nathan Ellis and singles from Mac Hollowel,Pete Falavina and Mike O'Rourke, Derek Howard had the shutout. US Nationals Rams 3 Pittsburgh 2 OT The Rams of Leominster Ma defeated Pittsburgh United 3 to 2 in Overtime, in an action packed exciting final game. The Rams coached by John Stamas & Ray Richard took an early lead on a goal by Conan Langlois assisted by Ted Reynolds & Brad Forrest. Rams outshot United 9 to 3. The second period United coached by Mark Madden & Corey Herschk came alive and took over the play, veteran Steve Russell fired home a powerplay slapshot to tie the game, Ryan Jones & John Kalichuck assisting. A few minutes later Jones wristed home the lead goal after a pass from Russell. Pittsburgh continued to dominate the period and squash the Rams offence, outshooting their rival 7 to 5. The third period was evenly played, Pittsburgh taking their second period momentum into the first half of the period. The Rams continued to press, time running out pulled their goalie and with a faceoff deep in Pittsburgh's end only 17 seconds left set in motion the Rams final play. The Rams Bobby Housser then came from behind the net setting up teammate Steve Kendall's shot into the top corner tying the game at 2-2 with just 8 seconds left. Overtime saw Pittsburgh United take charge & fire 5 shots at Rams goalie Breau, who turned all away. Rams Cody Warila broke out of his zone with Bobby Housser trailing and fed a drop pass to Housser who fired a blast into the upper net past goalie John Rethage for the victory at 5:55. Shots for the game Rams 23 United 21. Rams Bobby Housser was voted Most Valuable Player, Steve Kendall Most Valuable Defenceman, and United goalie John Rethage Most Valuable Goalie. Pittsburgh's Ryan Jones was Tounament Leading Scorer, with 9 goals & 4 assists, Housser was right behind with 4 goals and 8 assists.

Egg Harbor Phantoms dominated the Youth Divisions winning all the Gold, Leominter Ma took the Oldtimers and Sr C, teams from Quebec repeating Sr D & Women's Div as champs. Coming Soon Scores & Summaries: The 1979 Leominster Rams Bus Tour by began in Niagara Falls,Ont & ended 21 days & 17 games later in Moncton NB. The tour featured Street Hockey & Ball Hockey games was the brain child of Ken White & Alan Tomalty in Canada & Tom Deery & Chris Housser in the USA. The first true International test of two similar games, ended successfully and sponsored plenty of goodwill. |
